Cabrillo National Monument
Located in Point Loma, Cabrillo National Monument is San Diego's most visited national monument. Commemorating Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo's landing at San Diego Bay in 1542, the national historic park is home to a cultural and natural resources that tell the story of 16th century exploration in California and offers breathtaking views of the bay. Enjoy hiking the two-mile Bayside Trail, tide pooling, and whale watching. Visit the Plaza at the Cabrillo Statue, a scenic place to take in the view of San Diego harbor, and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, one of the original eight lighthouses on the West Coast.
